DOJ VS. Apple

The U.S. Department of Justice is suing Apple for allegedly preventing rivals from competing with its digital wallets and payments services on its smart devices. The issue at the center of this case is that Apple does not allow its competition to develop alternative payment products and services on its smart devices. It argues that Apple also uses its own form of interchange fees on banks which increases the cost of using credit cards on its devices.

The DOJ says it will seek to bring competition to the digital markets on behalf of the American Public. Apple has vowed to fight this lawsuit, saying this case threatens the foundations that set apple products apart in the market.
